- MGM Grand Cash Games. The main poker game at MGM Grand is $1/$2 No Limit Texas Hold’em. The buyin range is $100 to $300. The other common game is $3/$6 Fixed Limit Hold’em. There is a $2/$5 No Limit Hold’em game every now and then, but it does not run anywhere near as often as it used to at MGM Grand.

Golden Nugget Poker Room
The Golden Nugget poker room in Las Vegas reopened on June 6, 2020 after the COVID-19 closure. It is the only downtown Las Vegas casino with a poker room. It has 13 tables. The poker room at Golden Nugget is open 24 hours a day. The maximum number of players per table is five. There are no partitions. All games at the Golden Nugget poker room are Texas Hold’em.
Golden Nugget poker room cash games
Most of the action at Golden Nugget is 1/2 no limit Texas Hold’em. It does not have a maximum buy-in. It is uncapped. The other common game is 2/4 fixed limit Texas Hold’em.
Golden Nugget poker tournaments
Poker tournaments are currently suspended at Golden Nugget. The schedule typically had four tournaments per day before the closure. All were no limit Texas Hold’em. The buy-in was $50 or $70, depending on the event.
The Grand Poker Series is held every summer at Golden Nugget. That schedule usually offers a no limit Hold’em tournament daily and a second event that is Omaha, stud, draw or a mixed game.
Golden Nugget poker promotions
There are several poker promotions at Golden Nugget. These include hourly high hands and a bonus for making four of a kind, straight flush or royal flush. The quads and straight flushes start at $50 and progress to $599 or until hit. Royal flushes are paid by suit and start at $200. The royal flush progressive is uncapped. The four of a kind and straight flush payouts double between 8am and 2pm daily.
There is a $10,000 progressive bad beat jackpot. It hits when at least four of a kind deuces lose. The jackpots are funded by a $1 drop. Players must use both hole cards for straight and royal flushes. Four of a kind hands must use a pocket paid to qualify. Players earn $2 an hour when clocked in with a 24K Select card.

The poker room is in a corner of the property near the casino cage. It offers comfortable seating and tables. There are televisions along the walls. One part of the poker room is typically used for tournaments. The staff at Golden Nugget is experienced and is part of the reason why the poker room became the only major one left in downtown Las Vegas.
